These rings were initially supposed to be installed at Lions Gate Bridge however, the threat of anti-2010 groups led to the decision to put them in the middle of Coal Harbour. I think they look rather spectacular out there in the water and can be seen from many different vantage points.
The initial plans called for 5 Olympic rings scattered across the city, that plan has been scaled back to two rings. The other set is at YVR. Continue reading to see a video of the Olympic rings in all their glory.

Absolutely love it, love it, love it! I can't wait for the Olympics only 99 days away!!
So these ones light up like the actual rings! The ones at YVR are just white :(
The ones at YVR can also show colours and have been doing a short 1 minute demonstration on the hour every hour when it's dark. But the IOC has said that a white ring in the middle isn't allowed so the Coal Harbour rings have an extra two thin strips of LEDs that try to give the appearance of a black ring.
Wow those look BEAUTIFUL! The lights across the water look fantastic.
P.S. This site isn't very work safe ;)
